What is The Decameron about?
The 2024 series follows a group of nobles and servants who flee to a countryside estate in 1348, hoping isolation will keep the Black Death outside the gates. Inside, though, old hierarchies start to crack: masters lean on servants they once ignored, alliances form and dissolve overnight, and appetites for food, status, and control take over the household. Each day inside the villa becomes its own small drama, layering morbid humor over genuine fear as the characters try to outlast a catastrophe none of them fully understand.

Context & significance
The show borrows its title and framing device from Giovanni Boccaccio's 14th-century story collection, in which ten young Florentines tell tales to pass the time while sheltering from plague. K-Time's version keeps that shelter-in-place setup but reworks the interior stories into a single continuous plot about class and survival, trading Boccaccio's anthology structure for one household's slow unraveling across the pandemic year of 1348. Rather than illustrating the source book scene by scene, the writers use it mainly as a skeleton, letting the servants' resentments and the nobles' denial drive most of the season's turns.
