Altitude becomes the only thing standing between a handful of survivors and monstrous predators in Elevation, where safety means staying above a line the creatures can't cross.
What is Elevation about?
Years after a mysterious species of flesh-eating creatures wipes out most of the population below three thousand feet, a widowed father living in a mountain settlement joins two women on a dangerous run down into lower ground to reach medical supplies for his sick son. The trip forces them out of the relative safety of altitude and into territory the creatures actually hunt, turning a supply run into a fight for the boy's life against enemies that can track scent and sound from a distance. Every step down the mountain trades safety for time they don't have, and the film keeps the group moving rather than resting on exposition.
Cast & crew
Anthony Mackie stars alongside Morena Baccarin and Maddie Hasson, with George Nolfi directing a small cast that carries most of the film's tension through their scenes together.
Context & significance
Elevation sits inside the post-apocalyptic creature-feature tradition, using a simple survival rule, stay high or die, to keep tension constant without heavy exposition. The 2024 film keeps its scale small and personal, following one family's errand rather than a wider war against the creatures, which lets the story focus on a father's decisions under pressure rather than on world-building. That narrower focus also keeps the pace tight across a runtime built for momentum rather than a sprawling mythology, with the mountain settlement itself standing in for whatever society remains after the outbreak.
