Director: Bryce McGuire
A backyard pool becomes the last place a struggling family should ever feel safe in Night Swim, the 2024 horror-thriller from director Bryce McGuire.
What is Night Swim about?
Ray Waller's career as a professional baseball player ends abruptly when a degenerative illness forces him into early retirement. Looking for a fresh start, he and his wife Eve move their two kids into a house whose standout feature is a gleaming backyard swimming pool. Ray convinces himself the water could double as physical therapy and maybe even a path back to the game he loves. The children take to it immediately, spending long afternoons swimming while their parents try to rebuild a sense of normal life. But the pool has history neither of them knows about, and small unsettling incidents around the water start piling up faster than anyone can explain away. What begins as a hopeful new chapter for the Waller family slowly curdles into something the house itself seems determined to finish.
Cast & crew
Wyatt Russell plays Ray with the physical presence of an athlete mourning a career cut short, while Kerry Condon gives Eve a grounded skepticism that keeps the family's unraveling believable. Amélie Hoeferle and Gavin Warren play the Waller children, with Nancy Lenehan and Jodi Long rounding out the supporting cast.
Context & significance
Night Swim expands on a 2014 short film of the same premise and arrived in theaters in early 2024 as part of a wave of horror titles built around a single domestic setting. Director Bryce McGuire leans on the idea that a pool — usually a symbol of comfort and leisure — can be reframed as a source of dread once its backstory comes into view.
Where & how to watch
Night Swim is available to stream on K-Time with a free account login, and the platform includes a Persian dub as well as Farsi subtitles, so Persian-speaking viewers can watch in whichever format they prefer. The full K-Time interface is also available in Farsi for easier browsing.
