Director: Stefan Colson
A gold-rush town's sheriff thinks he's caught a simple stickup man, but Ghosts of Red Ridge turns his investigation into something far stranger once the dead start showing up at his door.
What is Ghosts Of Red Ridge about?
After stopping an attempted robbery in the fading gold town of Red Ridge, Texas, the local sheriff locks up a mysterious stranger he suspects is connected to a gang of outlaws that has been terrorizing the town for weeks. What should be routine police work becomes unsettling fast: as the sheriff pushes closer to identifying the outlaws responsible, apparitions of townspeople who were killed by the gang begin appearing to him, night after night. He's left trying to work out whether these visitations are warnings meant to help him finish the job, or a form of vengeance directed at him personally for having failed to protect the victims while they were alive. The film blends western tropes with a slow-building horror atmosphere rather than jump scares.
Cast & crew
Owen Williams leads as the sheriff caught between a criminal investigation and a haunting he can't explain, with Trent Culkin and Griffin Wade playing key figures tied to the gang terrorizing Red Ridge. Mercedes Peterson and John Marrs fill out the supporting cast of townspeople whose fates drive the sheriff's growing unease.
Context & significance
Director Stefan Colson keeps Ghosts of Red Ridge tight at just 81 minutes, favoring atmosphere and a slow reveal over an overstuffed plot, which fits the film's dual identity as both a western and a ghost story. It carries a notably strong 7.3 rating, suggesting the genre mashup landed well with viewers looking for something outside the standard horror formula.
