Director: Colm McCarthy
A childhood nightmare walks back into an adult's life in Bagman, a 2024 horror-thriller from director Colm McCarthy.
What is Bagman about?
Patrick McKee grew up hearing the same warning every child in his town knew by heart: stay out of the dark, or the Bagman will take you. As a boy he came face to face with the creature and barely got away, and the encounter left marks that never fully healed. Years later, married to Karina and raising their young son Jake, Patrick has built a quiet life far from that fear. But something from his past has followed him home. Strange sounds start at night, a shape lingers at the edge of the yard, and Patrick realizes the thing that hunted him as a child has come back for his family. As the threat closes in, he has to decide whether to run again or finally face what has waited decades to finish what it started.
Cast & crew
Sam Claflin carries the film as Patrick, playing a man whose composure keeps cracking under old trauma. Antonia Thomas plays Karina, the wife trying to hold the family together while her husband unravels, and the supporting cast, including Sharon D. Clarke and Steven Cree, fills out the small-town setting where the legend took root.
Context & significance
Bagman comes from director Colm McCarthy, known for tense, character-driven genre work, and leans on folklore-style dread rather than gore, drawing on the universal childhood fear of something waiting in the dark. Released in 2024, it runs a lean 92 minutes and sits squarely in the horror-thriller category, built around a single family's collapse of nerve rather than a wide mythology.
Where & how to watch
Bagman is available to watch on K-Time with a Persian dub and Persian subtitles, part of the platform's library built for Farsi-speaking audiences. The film page itself is free to browse; watching it starts with a simple K-Time account login, no extra steps beyond that.
