Director: Yeon Sang-ho
Unidentified parasites capable of taking over human bodies begin surfacing across South Korea, forcing an uneasy alliance between an infected survivor and the police unit hunting her down.
What is Parasyte: The Grey about?
Six years after a wave of parasitic invaders first threatened humanity, a new outbreak spreads through a small South Korean city when the creatures resurface in fresh hosts. Jeong Su-in, an ordinary woman attacked by one of the parasites, survives the encounter in an unusual way: rather than being fully overtaken, she retains partial control of her own body while sharing it with the creature inside her. As more infected hosts appear and a special task force scrambles to contain the threat, Su-in finds herself caught between the humans who fear her and the parasites who see her as a dangerous anomaly.
Cast & crew
Jeon So-nee carries the series as Su-in, balancing vulnerability and unnerving physical control in a role built around the character's divided identity. Koo Kyo-hwan plays the head of the anti-parasite task force pursuing her, while Lee Jung-hyun, Kwon Hae-hyo, and Kim In-kwon fill out a cast spanning police, criminal, and civilian storylines.
Context & significance
Director Yeon Sang-ho, known for genre work that blends body horror with social commentary, expands the Parasyte concept, originally a Japanese manga, into a contemporary Korean setting. The series trades some of the source material's teenage coming-of-age angle for an ensemble crime-thriller structure, following multiple factions racing to find the parasites before they root deeper into the city.
