What is Spaceman about?
Jakub is alone aboard a research station studying a strange cosmic phenomenon, months away from home and slipping further from his pregnant wife with every passed message. When an ancient, spider-like visitor turns up in his ship, unbothered by physics and oddly interested in his memories, Jakub has no one else to talk to and reluctantly lets it in. Their conversations, part therapy session and part interrogation, drag him back through the choices that hollowed out his marriage long before he ever left the ground. The film swaps space-thriller tension for something quieter: a man forced to sit with his own regrets with nowhere left to run and no one else listening. Whether the creature is real or something his mind invented to survive the silence is left for the viewer to decide.
Cast & crew
Adam Sandler carries the film largely alone, playing against Paul Dano's voice work as the alien visitor. Carey Mulligan appears as his wife, with Kunal Nayyar, Isabella Rossellini, Lena Olin, Petr Pánek, and Marian Roden filling out the supporting roles on the ground and aboard the mission's command structure.
