What is Our Season about?
Bok-ja has died, and an unusual leave from wherever the dead go sends her back to see Jin-joo, the daughter she remembers as a university professor working abroad. What she finds instead is Jin-joo running a small diner out of the family's old house, a life that doesn't match the one Bok-ja pictured, and a daughter carrying questions about their relationship that neither of them ever found a way to raise while Bok-ja was alive. The film builds its fantasy premise — a strictly limited window, a mother who can be seen but who will have to leave again — around an ordinary, unresolved family wound: things a parent and child meant to say to each other and never did. Rather than treating the reunion as pure sentiment, it lets Bok-ja's discovery of who her daughter actually became sit uncomfortably before any reconciliation is allowed to land.
About the cast
