When his sister-in-law dies suddenly in a road accident in Saigon, Thien takes on the responsibility of bringing her body back to their home village for burial. He brings along his young nephew Dao, who survived the same crash, and the trip quickly turns into something larger: an attempt to track down Dao's father, Thien's estranged older brother, who disappeared from the family years earlier. Moving through the mist and rice fields of the Vietnamese countryside, Thien's search becomes as much about his own unresolved faith as it is about finding his brother.
