What is Dead Boy Detectives about?
Charles Rowland and Edwin Payne died decades apart but found each other in the afterlife's waiting room, and neither liked what came next enough to walk through the door. Back on Earth as an unlikely detective duo, they take on cases that mix schoolyard cruelty with genuinely uncanny threats: vengeful spirits, cursed objects, and creatures that don't officially exist. Along the way they pick up a psychic teenager who can see them clearly, a cat with more going on than she lets on, and a butcher's-shop witch who is not thrilled to have them in her territory. The show moves between wry, deadpan humor and moments that tip into real horror, never settling for long in either mode. Underneath the case-of-the-week structure sits a quieter question about what keeps these two boys tethered to the world instead of the next one, and what it might cost them to find out.
Cast & crew
George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri anchor the series as Charles and Edwin, playing off each other with the kind of easy rapport a buddy detective show needs. Kassius Nelson, Briana Cuoco, Ruth Connell, Yuyu Kitamura, and Jenn Lyon round out a supporting cast that gives the small town around the two ghosts its own texture and stakes.
