Director: Jac Schaeffer
A witch stripped of her powers, a mysterious road that only appears to those who need it, and a coven with secrets of their own: Agatha All Along takes one of Marvel television's most memorable villains and hands her an entire season to herself.
What is Agatha All Along about?
Years after the events that left her without magic, Agatha Harkness is barely surviving, trapped by a spell that keeps her powerless and hiding from those who would come for her. A teenage stranger with an agenda of his own frees her, and the two strike an uneasy bargain: he wants access to the fabled Witches' Road, a trial said to grant any witch who survives it their heart's desire, and Agatha is the only one who might get him there. To attempt the Road, though, Agatha needs a coven, so she assembles a group of witches, each carrying old grudges, hidden pasts, and reasons of their own for wanting what lies at the Road's end. As the group moves deeper into the trials, alliances shift, backstories surface, and the boy's true identity becomes the season's central mystery. The show leans into musical numbers, genre pastiche, and dark humor while still building toward real stakes for its characters.
Cast & crew
Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness, a character introduced in WandaVision, this time carrying the show as its lead. Joe Locke plays the teenage stranger whose identity drives much of the season's mystery. The rest of the coven is filled out by a strong ensemble including Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Patti LuPone, whose stage background suits the show's flair for musical set pieces, alongside a scene-stealing turn from Aubrey Plaza.
Context & significance
Agatha All Along is a spinoff of WandaVision, continuing the Marvel Cinematic Universe's run of television series built around a single supporting character rather than an ensemble of headline heroes. It premiered on Disney+ in September 2024, several years after its title character was first introduced, giving the show room to answer questions the earlier series left open while telling a mostly self-contained story about witchcraft, found family, and reinvention. Its tone sits closer to horror-comedy than typical superhero fare, drawing more from witch folklore and stage tradition than from big-budget action.
