What is The Nevers about?
Late in Victoria's reign, a strange event leaves a growing number of Londoners, most of them women, marked with sudden and unexplainable abilities. Some can move objects with a glance, others hear things no one should hear, and a few carry gifts no one has learned to name yet. Amalia True, quick with her fists and quicker to hide what she is feeling, and Penance Adair, a gifted inventor who sees possibility where others see danger, build a refuge for these so-called Touched. Around them, aristocrats, clergy, and opportunists each want something different from this new underclass, and Amalia and Penance are pulled into a fight far larger than either expected when they first found each other.

Laura Donnelly plays Amalia True with a coiled, guarded energy, opposite Ann Skelly's warmer, endlessly curious Penance Adair. Olivia Williams brings weight to the story's institutional side, James Norton and Tom Riley circle the Touched with their own agendas, and Ben Chaplin, Pip Torrens, and Zackary Momoh fill out a London torn between fascination and fear of what these women can do.
