The third takes a young soldier on leave to a family gathering in the countryside, where an evening conversation turns unexpectedly personal. The fourth brings a woman visiting Iran from abroad to the house of relatives, where an explanation postponed for years is waiting for her. Capital punishment, and the routine administrative work that surrounds it, is the thread linking all four parts.
About the cast
Every segment uses a different ensemble, and no lead carries across the film. Baran Rasoulof, the director's daughter, plays the returning visitor in the final story and later collected the Berlin award on her father's behalf. Zhila Shahi and Mahtab Servati appear in other parts, alongside Ehsan Mirhosseini, Kaveh Ahangar and Mohammad Valizadegan, most of them seen in only one episode.
