Liv grows up restless in a poor household deep in the woods, dreaming of a life beyond the trees long before she gets the chance to leave. That chance arrives in the shape of a polar bear named Valemon, who offers to lift her family out of hardship if she agrees to come away with him. What starts as a bargain slowly turns into something warmer, as Liv and Valemon build a trust that neither of them quite expected, only for Liv to learn that Valemon's bear form hides an old curse laid on him by a witch. Rather than settling into that discovery, Liv sets out with her animal companions to track the witch down and try to undo what was done, turning a quiet fable about loneliness into a proper journey story.
