When Nobita becomes convinced that a fabled sky utopia, a perfect land where nobody has to struggle, really exists somewhere above the clouds, Doraemon's arsenal of futuristic gadgets turns the idea from a schoolyard daydream into an actual expedition. The group builds and boards an airship equipped with a time-warp function, letting the story hop between eras as they chase down clues about where this floating paradise might be hiding and who, or what, is guarding it. As with most entries in the series, the light comic tone gradually gives way to a larger question about what a truly perfect world would actually cost the people living in it, and the friends find themselves weighing convenience and effortless happiness against the more complicated, lived-in world they already know.
