John has never been allowed to learn who his birth parents were — an absurd statute bars unrecognized children from that knowledge until they turn one hundred. Desperate to change public opinion before he is old enough to see the law lifted on his own, John seeks out Gustavo, the only other unrecognized-at-birth centenarian still alive and, on paper, the one person who could actually test the rule right now. Gustavo, however, shows almost no interest in the fight. What follows is less a legal campaign than an odd-couple education: a young man stuck rehashing old grievances meets an old man who has made peace with moving forward, and neither expects the other to become essential. Director Alessandro Bardani leans into comic contrasts of age and temperament rather than courtroom drama, following the pair through misadventures that force John to reconsider what he is actually chasing.
