What is The Yin-Yang Master Zero about?
Seimei Abe has the raw talent for onmyodo magic but none of the drive, treating his training as an obligation rather than a calling. That changes when a string of unnatural occurrences in the capital draws the attention of the nobleman Hiromasa Minamoto, who enlists Seimei's help to get to the bottom of it. As the two investigate, they uncover a threat rooted in old grudges and older spirits, forcing Seimei to reckon with the very abilities he has spent years avoiding. The film builds its 2024 fantasy around a partnership of opposites: one man who believes in duty and ritual, another who trusts only what he can see work. Their search for answers moves through shrines, palace corridors, and the uneasy space between the living world and whatever lurks just beside it.
Cast & crew
Kento Yamazaki plays Seimei with a deliberate flatness that slowly cracks as the stakes rise, while Shota Sometani gives Hiromasa the warmth and impatience of a man used to getting his way.
