What is Kacis about?
Mehmet, a war photographer, and Ilker, a reporter who has covered conflict alongside him for years, agree to escort a small group from Germany — among them an activist named Zeynep — across the border to visit a Yazidi village. It is meant to be a brief, informal trip. Before they can leave, the village is raided by a radical armed organization, and the group is taken captive along with the people who live there. What follows is a 2022 Turkish action-drama built around captivity and escape: negotiating with captors, protecting the villagers around them, and finding the nerve to make a break for the border they crossed so casually. Director Yagiz Alp Akaydin shoots the series close to its cast — Engin Akyürek, İrem Helvacıoğlu, Aras Aydın, Leyla Tanlar, Levent Ülgen, Aziz Çapkurt, Onur Bay and Serkan Genç — keeping the scale intimate even as the stakes widen.
