What is On The Wandering Paths about?
Pierre has spent his career as an explorer and travel writer, more comfortable moving through remote landscapes than standing still. A drunken climb up a hotel facade ends in a fall that puts him into a coma for weeks. He wakes up with his legs badly damaged and doctors doubtful he will walk unaided again. Instead of settling into recovery at home, he leaves against the advice of nearly everyone around him and begins retracing old, half-forgotten paths across the French countryside on foot, pushing his body toward a distance that once would have been routine for him and is now anything but.
Cast & crew
Jean Dujardin plays Pierre, trading his more comic register for a quieter, physically demanding role built around silence and endurance. Izia Higelin, Jonathan Zaccai, Anny Duperey, Dylan Robert, Josephine Japy, Olivier Charasson and Lou Chauvain fill out the people he meets and remembers along the route, each appearing briefly rather than carrying a parallel plotline of their own.
