Emma applies for a night watchman position at the same hospital where her parents vanished under strange circumstances almost thirty years earlier, hoping the job will finally give her answers no one else has been willing to provide. Her search leads her into a cell holding Wörmer, a serial killer whose long coma is broken the moment Emma's investigation crosses his path again. As he stirs back to consciousness, a chain of events is set in motion that pulls hospital staff, old case files, and Emma's own fragmented memories back into danger.
