A decades-old alliance between humans and a shape-shifting alien race is fraying badly by the time Secret Invasion begins, and Nick Fury has to figure out who around him is still actually human.
What is Secret Invasion about?
For years, Fury quietly relied on a faction of Skrulls to help protect Earth in exchange for a promise of eventual peace and a homeworld of their own. That promise has gone unfulfilled, and a hardline splinter group led by Gravik has grown tired of waiting, infiltrating governments and institutions at the highest levels while wearing human faces. Fury, pulled back from years away in orbit, has to work with his old ally Talos to root out the infiltration before it tips into open conflict, in a story that trades cosmic spectacle for something closer to a paranoid espionage thriller.
