Director: Jun Hoskulds

Hitting rock bottom turns out to be only the beginning when a stranger's offer pulls a broke, jobless man into a stranger world entirely.

What is TwoTwo about?

David has just lost his job and, with it, the sense that his life was ever really under his control. Desperate and directionless, he accepts a proposal from a mysterious man who claims he can rewrite the course of David's life. The bargain leads him straight to TwoTwo, a young woman on the run whose presence pulls David out of his ordinary despair and into a fantastical chain of events neither of them fully understands. What starts as a story about losing everything becomes a strange, fast-moving journey about chasing something worth keeping.

Cast & crew

Morgan Makana plays TwoTwo with a restless, elusive energy that keeps her motives just out of reach, while Joel Ballard carries David's arc from defeated everyman to reluctant participant in events far bigger than his old job ever was. Kenneth Best rounds out the small principal cast in a supporting role that helps tie the film's fantasy logic together.

Context & significance

Working in the fantasy genre, director Jun Hoskulds builds TwoTwo around a low-key, character-first version of the wish-fulfillment premise rather than heavy visual effects, letting the mystery of the stranger's offer and TwoTwo's backstory drive the pacing. The 2023 production keeps its scale intimate, favoring atmosphere and character chemistry over large-scale spectacle.
