Director: Miguel Puga
A family road trip to Mexico turns into a mountain-sized problem in "The Casagrandes Movie," a 2024 animated comedy built around the loud, loving Casagrande clan.
What is The Casagrandes Movie about?
Twelve-year-old Ronnie Anne is thrilled to celebrate her birthday in Mexico with her huge extended family, but a wrong turn near an ancient mountain shrine changes everything. She unknowingly releases a mischievous demigod who has been sealed away for centuries, and his sudden freedom sets off a chain of small disasters that threaten to ruin the trip. With the demigod's powers spiraling out of control, Ronnie Anne has to rally her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins into an unlikely rescue squad. The Casagrandes split up, chase leads across town and countryside, and lean on each generation's strengths — from her abuela's local knowledge to her cousin's stubborn optimism — to undo the damage before the birthday trip becomes a family legend for all the wrong reasons.
Cast & crew
Izabella Alvarez voices Ronnie Anne, joined by Sumalee Montano, Paulina Chávez, Angélica Aragón, Sonia Manzano, Kate del Castillo, Alex Cazares, and Carlos PenaVega as the sprawling Casagrande family, under Miguel Puga's direction.
Context & significance
The film extends the Nickelodeon franchise "The Casagrandes," a spin-off of "The Loud House" centered on a multigenerational Mexican-American family living above their grandfather's repair shop, giving this outing a distinct setting rooted in Mexican folklore.
