Violet stands to inherit the throne of Wingravia, but an old royal clause forces her to prove her mettle first: a punishing leadership course in the Colorado mountains, run by instructors who have no idea who she really is. Determined to keep her uncle from using her inexperience as an excuse to seize power, Violet swaps palace protocol for tent pitching, trust falls, and early-morning drills alongside strangers who judge her on effort rather than bloodline. The disguise gets harder to maintain as she starts to enjoy being treated like an equal, and even harder once she realizes one of her fellow trainees is watching her more closely than the others. Snow, deadlines, and a family power struggle back home push the story toward a finish where Violet has to decide what kind of ruler — and what kind of person — she actually wants to be.
