What is Outside the Wire about?
Outside the Wire drops a drone operator into the field after a mission goes wrong at a distance, pairing him with an android officer for a mission across a devastated near-future conflict zone. Their assignment is to track down a piece of hardware capable of triggering catastrophic destruction before it falls into the wrong hands, and the journey forces the pilot to learn combat as something lived rather than watched on a monitor. Along the way the mismatched pair crosses paths with local factions and rival soldiers who complicate a job that was never simple to begin with, and the film uses their partnership to ask how much of soldiering can be delegated to a machine, and how much still has to be human.
About the cast
Anthony Mackie plays the android officer leading the mission, opposite Damson Idris as the drone pilot thrown into the field for the first time.
