An archaeologist heading home to stop his own father's hotel project runs straight into an activist trying to stop the same thing, in this 2021 Turkish drama-comedy now streaming with a Persian dub and subtitles.
What is Oluversin Gari about?
Güney works as an archaeologist and drops everything when he learns his father Salih intends to build a hotel on a historic site back in Sahilköy. Once there, he meets Derya, a local activist who is fighting the same construction from the village side. Salih, who is willing to bend the truth however he needs to, finds out his son has come home and has to scramble to manage the fallout. Güney, meanwhile, gets pulled in several directions at once: his ex-girlfriend Seda reenters the picture, and the village fills up with people chasing rumors of buried treasure alongside those simply hoping the hotel gets built. The series mixes its family conflict with a lighter, comic register rather than playing the standoff as straight drama.
About the cast
The cast is led by Birand Tunca and Aslıhan Malbora, with Tuğba Melis Türk, Halil Ibrahim Kurum, Ali Rıza Tanyeli, Kıvanç Baran Arslan, Tuğçe Karabayır and Suat Sungur completing the ensemble around them.
Context & significance
Director Hasan Doğan blends drama and comedy for this 2021 production, setting a father-son development dispute against a small-town backdrop where treasure rumors and local politics complicate a fairly simple conflict. Village-set stories that pit heritage against development are a recurring shape in Turkish television, and this one leans into the comic side of that tension rather than treating it purely as tragedy.
