What is Oboor az Marze Zendegi about?
Amir walks free after six years behind bars, carrying nothing but the hope of starting over. He tracks down Mina, a singer with whom he shares a son named Mehrdad. The two marry and Amir throws himself into the difficult search for honest work. But his brother Jamshid has other plans — he arranges for a car identical to Amir's and weapons matching those from the old crime to be used in a new robbery and murder, framing Amir all over again. As Amir fights to prove his innocence, the fragile life he has built for his family begins to crack under the weight of a conspiracy designed to destroy him.
Cast & crew
Naser Malek Motiee, one of the most recognized faces of pre-revolution Iranian cinema, anchors the film as Amir. Zhaleh Karimi plays Mina opposite him. Ali Zandi takes on the role of the scheming Jamshid. Supporting performances from Haik Hovsepian, Mahmood Tehrani, Esmail Shirazi, Giti Forouhar, and Karim Ghajar round out the cast.
Context & significance
Pre-revolution Iranian cinema of the 1970s produced a rich body of popular drama that spoke directly to working-class anxieties — the fragility of freedom, the weight of a criminal record, and the difficulty of reintegration into society. Oboor az Marze Zendegi sits squarely in that tradition. For diaspora viewers, these films carry a double resonance: they document a social world that no longer exists and offer a window into the Iran of their parents or grandparents. Malek Motiee in particular was a beloved screen presence whose films defined popular taste in that era, making this title a meaningful piece of Iranian film heritage.
