Jess Salgueiro and Adam Hurtig play a couple who retreat to a remote cabin hoping distance will steady a relationship already coming apart. A pandemic is spreading when they arrive, and a new variant soon turns the surrounding region into something closer to a warzone than a quarantine. Isolation was supposed to give them room to talk. Instead it strips away every distraction that let them avoid each other, forcing a reckoning with the marriage while a much larger threat closes in from outside. That threat has a face: a survivalist, played by Tom Keenan, who treats the collapse of order as an opportunity rather than a catastrophe and intends to be the last person standing in the area. Guenette builds tension less through outright violence than through the slow erosion of trust — between the couple, and between the couple and a stranger who may or may not be as dangerous as he seems.
