What is Meg 2 The Trench about?
A research team pushes into the deepest, least-mapped section of the ocean trench that gave the first film its name, only to find the expedition has crossed paths with an illegal mining operation working the same depths. What starts as a scientific descent turns into a fight for survival on two fronts, as the crew has to deal with hostile saboteurs above the surface while enormous prehistoric predators start circling below it. Jonas Taylor is once again pulled into the deep, forced to improvise against threats that outmatch him in size and number, while the mining operation's greed keeps making a bad situation worse for everyone trapped near the trench. The film leans fully into spectacle, stacking sea-monster set pieces on top of a heist-adjacent plot about who actually controls what happens at the bottom of the ocean.
