What is Dark Matter about?
Dark Matter follows Jason, a college professor who once chased a groundbreaking career in physics before settling into a quieter family life. One ordinary night in Chicago he is abducted and wakes inside a box that should not exist, a device capable of folding reality itself. On the other side he finds a version of himself who took every risk he didn't, and a family that never came to be. To get back to his wife and son, Jason has to cross dozens of alternate Chicagos, each shaped by a different choice, while a rival version of himself works to keep him locked out for good.
Cast & crew
Joel Edgerton anchors the series as Jason, playing both the family man and his more ambitious counterpart through small shifts in posture and tone rather than obvious tricks. Jennifer Connelly plays his wife Daniela, giving the marriage at the center of the story real weight. Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, and Oakes Fegley round out a cast built to carry a story that keeps doubling back on itself.
