Yoon Se-ri runs a fashion empire built by her own family, and she is testing a new paraglider design when a sudden storm sends her drifting far past where she planned to land. She comes down on the North Korean side of the demilitarized zone, disoriented and completely out of her depth in a country she has only ever seen from a distance. Ri Jeong-hyeok, a special forces officer on routine patrol, finds her first and has to make an immediate choice: report her, or shelter her long enough to find a way to smuggle her home. What starts as a logistics problem stretches into weeks, as Se-ri adjusts to a village that runs on entirely different rules and Jeong-hyeok risks his career and his standing with his own unit to protect a stranger. Around them, a small ensemble of neighbors, fellow soldiers and a rival back in the South complicate a story that keeps circling back to the same question — what happens once the border stops being the only thing separating them.
About the cast
Son Ye-jin plays Yoon Se-ri with the sharp instincts of someone used to running a company, softened as her circumstances force her to depend on people she cannot control. Hyun Bin brings a controlled, watchful quality to Ri Jeong-hyeok that carries much of the series' tension. Seo Ji-hye, Kim Jung-hyun, Oh Man-seok, Kim Young-min, Yoo Su-bin and Kim Jung-nan fill out a supporting cast on both sides of the border, giving the village and the unit around the two leads their own texture.
