Director: Cutter Hodierne
Cold Wallet turns a cryptocurrency wipeout into a hostage thriller, following a circle of online strangers who decide that going after the man who ruined them is the only way to get their money back.
What is Cold Wallet about?
After a viral crypto token collapses overnight, a scattered group of Reddit users realizes they've lost their savings to a slick "financial influencer" who cashed out before the crash. Furious and broke, a handful of them stop venting online and start planning something reckless: grabbing the influencer himself and forcing him to make things right. What begins as an angry group chat curdles into an amateur kidnapping plot, and the film tracks how ordinary, non-criminal people talk themselves into a crime none of them are equipped to pull off. Directed by Cutter Hodierne, the story leans into dark comedy as much as tension, watching the scheme wobble under the weight of nerves, bad planning, and people who trust the internet more than each other.
Cast & crew
Tony Cavalero and Josh Brener anchor the group of scammed investors, with Raúl Castillo and Melonie Diaz rounding out a cast of characters who feel more like a support group than a criminal crew. Ian Unterman, Genevieve Adams, Joanna Sylvie Weinig, and Otoja Abit fill out the wider circle of victims and bystanders swept into the plan.
Context & significance
Cold Wallet arrives from the United States in 2025, tapping into a very current anxiety: crypto scams that vanish life savings in a single bad night. Rather than explain blockchain mechanics, the film treats the financial collapse as a spark and spends its runtime on the human fallout — betrayal, humiliation, and the temptation to fight back outside the law.
Where & how to watch
Cold Wallet is available to watch on K-Time with a free account login, and comes with a Persian-dubbed audio track for viewers who prefer to follow the story in Farsi. The K-Time interface itself is built around a Farsi-first experience, making it easy for Persian-speaking audiences to browse, search, and settle in for the film without switching languages.
