Director: Sam Fell

Sam Fell's stop-motion sequel picks up years after the original flock's great escape, dropping a new generation of chickens into a fresh crisis at a mysterious processing farm.

What is Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget about?

Years after Ginger and Rocky's flock found freedom, their daughter Molly grows restless on the isolated island sanctuary her parents built. When she sneaks off the island, she stumbles onto Fun-Land Farms, a gleaming facility that looks like paradise but hides a mechanized secret. Ginger has to reassemble her old crew — some grayer, some grumpier — for a daring rescue that plays out as equal parts prison-break thriller and hen-house comedy, aided by a hapless failed spy rooster and an oddball scientist chicken who talks in wild non-sequiturs.

Cast & crew

Thandiwe Newton and Zachary Levi step into the roles of Ginger and Rocky, alongside Bella Ramsey as their daughter Molly. Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, David Bradley, Jane Horrocks and Romesh Ranganathan round out the coop, giving the returning flock and its newcomers distinct comic rhythms even within Aardman's tactile clay-and-wire universe.

Context & significance

Produced by Aardman Animations and released in 2023, Dawn of the Nugget arrives seventeen years after the first Chicken Run and keeps the studio's handmade stop-motion craft intact even as the story scales up to a corporate-farm setting. It sits alongside Aardman's other family adventures as a rare sequel that leans into satire about industrial food production while staying gentle enough for younger viewers.

Where & how to watch

The film streams with a Persian-dubbed audio track on K-Time, letting Farsi-speaking households watch without subtitles.
